Clump-forming hardy rhizomatous perennial with edible shoots, leaves and flowers, one of the best of the bellflowers for eating. Stems of nodding bell-shaped violet-blue flowers in summer. Fabulous flowers for cake decorations as well as the vase.

Hardy, best in a sunny site. Good for heavy soils.
