Rich dark chocolate foliage and superb blood-red mophead flowers that gradually turn wine-purple. In Europe this is called Merveille Sanguine which translates as Blood-coloured Marvel. Best grown in dappled light where soils are rich in organic material, moist but free-draining. May be trimmed after flowering has finished. While hardy to many conditions it does grow best in good soil, avoiding really dry sites, semi-shaded best. Deciduous.
