Allium Ampeloprasum 3L

Flowering onion/Elephant garlic

Have you been searching and searching for the elusive Allium Giganteum? We have the next best thing!

Allium Ampeloprasum has large (10cm across) lilac pink to violet mauve flowers on spikes up to 2m tall these are so similar to Giganteum that they are often sold as them!

The main difference is in the bulb.
Giganteum forms a true single bulb whereas Ampeloprasum grows a multi clove bulb which is actually edible (Its actually Elephant garlic!)

It thrives in full sun with free-draining soil and is drought tolerant. Flowers in summer. Flower heads can be left on over winter for interest.
