A large spreading tree with glossy green leaves, producing edible nuts in autumn. Nuts are typically roasted or preserved. Prefers to be grown in full sun with acidic type soils that are well-drained. Useful as a feature tree that provides good shade during the Summer months. Frost protection very important in early years of growth. Drought tolerant once established.
